Bank Permata was formed as a result of the merger of five banks under the supervision of the National Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA), PT Bank Bali Tbk, PT Bank Universal Tbk, PT Bank Prima Express, PT Bank Artamedia, and PT Bank Patriot in 2002. In 2004, Standard Chartered Bank and PT Astra International Tbk took over the Bank and begin the process of a massive transformation in the organization. Furthermore, as part of its commitment to the Bank, joint ownership of major shareholders increased to 89.01% in 2006.
Merging the five banks is an implementation of the Government's decision regarding the Restructuring Program Advanced issued on November 22, 2001, which aims to establish a bank that has a strong capital structure, financial strength and high competitiveness in the intermediation function, the network service a broader and more diverse products. And as a result, it becomes the focus of the Bank as a bank and standalone as well as from the beginning committed to pursue the SME segment, retail and commercial.

Bank has committed to continue to try to be more active in bringing about the basic concepts of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility - CSR) through a variety of activities that fully involve employees of the Bank (PermataBankers) as a volunteer. Bank CSR program started in 2002 under the name of Bank Concern, and in October 2010, with the aim to further strengthen the Bank's commitment to CSR programs, the Bank changed its name to PermataHati Care. This change is not just a name change, but also about the changes to the logo, slogan and a new framework that is the foundation for all of the Bank's CSR activities. All of these changes are the result of a survey conducted to all stakeholders in the Bank at the end of 2009.
The survey concluded that education in the form of scholarships is important that the focus of CSR activities PermataHati where PermataBankers as volunteer involvement is key to the success of CSR programs PermataHati. The new logo symbolizes commitment PermataHati PermataBankers in creating harmony with the community / surrounding communities for a better future, and the slogan "Senyummu for the Future" has a meaning that any aid we give will result in them to smile for a brighter future . PermataHati program is focused on two major umbrella activities, namely a) education, which focused on various activities around the worlds of education is good for the development of human resources, improvement of facilities to support education and community empowerment, and b) humanitarian aid, which is focused on humanitarian assistance activities to victims of natural disasters nationwide.
